I'm just elevating it and will ice it tonight. Yikes! Was going to run today. Hopefully tomorrow the Phantom Pain will be gone. Sounds like the enemy of the Superhero, "Super Runners Shop Man" or something.
Anyway, it'll be touch and go, I suppose, till Saturday. Anyone have any ideas what the "%*&#" might be going on? Click on Title above for ideas...
Wish me luck!

Just by coinkerdink, I've been having what sounds like the exact same problem on and off since coming back from ITB injury. Most acutely after the 10K last week. Mine seems to be right on the inner meniscus of my left peg (I dread a meniscus tear!) - a very specific sore spot. I've been icing after each run and using my magic massage rollers on my calves & ITB, and, touching a large log of oak, the knee seems to be improving. (I'm the same way - have never had knee jip before...). I'm breaking in relatively new orthotics which I've been assuming may be the cause for me while my legs adjust, but who knows? I certainly recommend icing and stretching, and good luck improving!
One other possibility - bursitis. Go to the attached link for more symptoms / treatment options / rehab exercises.

I have similar symptoms and this was the only site that adequately explained my pain (with diagrams, etc.)
Good luck!
